Honeywell Scanners: Barcode reader flashes on then off / No Scan Beam

 
PROBLEM
 
The scanner in an Intermec/Honeywell mobile computer flashes on then off (about 1 second) and does not read barcodes. (No scan beam)
 
RESOLUTION
Try to reset the Internal Scanner settings to factory defaults.   
 
APPLIES TO
  • Mobility Hardware: CK3X, CK70, CK71, CK75, CN3, CN4, CN50, CN70
  • Operating Systems: WINDOWS Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 6.1, Windows Mobile 6.5
RESOLUTION
Usually this helps when there are issues scanning a specific bar code or the scanner does not have a scan beam. To reset the Internal Scanner settings to factory defaults, follow the steps below:
  1. Click on 'Start' > 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Intermec Settings'
  2. Click on 'Data Collection' > 'Internal Scanner'
  3. Click on the Menu at the bottom of the screen
  4. Click on Restore Menu Defaults
  5. Click Yes
